History of the PSOE
The PSOE (Labour Party) was founded clandestinely in the ¨Casa Labra¨ tavern in Madrid, on May 2, 1879, around 25 people: 16 typographers, four doctors, one doctor of science, two jewelers, one marble worker and one shoemaker.

Headed by Pablo Iglesias Posse, with what is the oldest political party in Spain with uninterrupted operation until today.

The first program of the new political party was approved in an assembly of 40 people, on July 20 of the same year. As a workers' and class party, the PSOE joined the Second International, which grouped the Marxist socialist parties until its collapse before World War I.

With determination and passion, the PSOE is committed to working for a better future for all.
